The first of the A series Austin
engined Minors that at long last brought together the legacy
of the First Minor and the Austin Seven in a single car. Despite
the modern high reving engine the smaller capacity meant that
the torque of the old Morris side valve engine was gone and
the top speed was very much the same. However this was the
basis for the more powerfull later versions and the A series
engine lasted well into the 1980s.
Front of Series II Minor changed
October 1954 with new style radiator grille of horizontal
slats painted off-white or body colour. Side lamps moved to
position beneath headlamps. Revised dashboard with centrally
mounted speedometer
