MORRIS
TEN-SIX 1934-1935
The name of the Morris
Ten-Six is a misnomer as the rating of the model was actually
12 horsepower. Nevertheless, the name chosen is understandable
when it is realised that the Ten-Six models carried indentical
bodies to the Ten-Four range but on a longer chassis. The
additional length allowed for a slightly longer engine compartment.
Changes in the specification
of the 1935 Ten-Six models followed those made to the 4-cylinder
contemporary such as the provision of a 'Rollsvisor' sun visor
in the closed models, a right -hand accelerator pedal position,
the change in the handbrake design from the previous years
centre button release type, a folding centre section to the
rear bumper, and larger section tyres on smaller diameter
wheels.
In addition to the open
models, Saloon, Coupe, and Traveller Saloon (which was basically
a standard saloon body with a larger door in the rear panel-and
only produced for the 1934 season), a Special Sports model
was available which boasted a modified and tuned engine with
high lift camshaft and twin S.U. carburetors.
